Traumatic Brain Injury & Iboga

Traumatic brain injury is often the undiagnosed root behind persistent brain fog, emotional dysregulation, fatigue, and mood shifts. By recognizing the physical brain injury directly, we open a path toward genuine recovery that symptom management frequently misses.

Casa-Well offers a setting for self-inquiry and personal growth. Participation is subject to individual medical evaluation. Experiences vary, benefits are not guaranteed, and ibogaine is not a substitute for medical, psychiatric, or psychotherapeutic care.

The Hidden Epidemic

TBI is often the root cause, not the symptom

Millions live with the downstream effects of traumatic brain injury — concussions, post-concussion syndrome, and repetitive subconcussive impacts — without ever identifying the physical injury as the true source. They are often treated for anxiety, depression, or emotional strain while the underlying neural injury remains unaddressed.

Brain Fog & Cognitive Speed

Persistent mental cloudiness, slowed processing speed, and difficulty with focus or executive concentration following head trauma or concussions.

Emotional Dysregulation

Mood swings, unexpected irritability, heightened anxiety, or depression that emerge or intensify following head impacts.

Sensory Sensitivity

Heightened reactivity to light, sound, or busy environments — hallmarks of an overwhelmed, hyper-vigilant nervous system post-injury.

Chronic Nervous System Fatigue

Profound exhaustion and reduced stamina as the brain works overtime to compensate for damaged neural pathways.

The Science of Repair

How iboga alkaloids interact with brain repair

Iboga's unique pharmacological profile targets biological mechanisms implicated in neural recovery — offering a fundamentally different paradigm from temporary symptom suppression.

01

Neurotrophic Factor Upregulation

Iboga alkaloid signaling has been shown in preclinical research to stimulate the expression of neurotrophic factors like GDNF (Glial Cell Line-Derived Neurotrophic Factor) and BDNF (Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor) — signaling proteins associated with neuronal survival and synaptic growth.

02

Neuroplasticity Window

By modulating NMDA and serotonergic pathways, iboga alkaloids open a temporary window of heightened neuroplasticity, offering the nervous system an opportunity to rewire around injured or disrupted networks.

03

Neuroinflammation Modulation

Chronic neuroinflammation is a primary long-term driver of post-TBI symptoms. Research explores how iboga's anti-inflammatory pathways may help quiet persistent neuro-immune activity.

04

Dopaminergic System Reset

Head trauma frequently disrupts dopamine pathways, resulting in apathy, cognitive fatigue, and reward deficits. Interaction with dopaminergic receptors helps support neuro-chemical equilibrium.

Self-Assessment

Could you have an undiagnosed brain injury?

Many people who have experienced head trauma don't realize it is the primary driver of their current symptoms. Assessing injury history is the first step toward finding appropriate support.

1

Life History Review

Examining your background, career, athletic history, military service, and any past vehicle or recreational falls that may have involved head impacts.

2

At-Home Screening Indicators

Observing functional indicators such as near point convergence, balance sway, light tolerance, and structured symptom inventories.

3

Professional Clinical Evaluation

Reviewing screening data with qualified clinical professionals to determine if formal neuro-diagnostic workup is warranted.

Participant Reflection

"The iboga microdosing had a very noticeable nootropic effect. During high-endurance, highly detailed mental work, I experienced a level of focus, mental clarity, and ease shifting between complex tasks that I hadn't felt in years."

Strategic Collaboration

Collaborating with Safe Living Space

We collaborate with Safe Living Space — a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to brain injury awareness through research, screening, and education — to help bring TBI out of the shadows.

  • Improved Identification: Combining community screening research with clinical protocols to identify impacts conventional assessments miss.
  • Evidence & Education: Advancing public awareness so individuals recognize head injuries as root factors.

Why brain injury research matters

TBI is one of the most under-recognized health challenges today. Millions live with its downstream effects without realizing physical brain trauma is responsible.

By combining pioneering screening initiatives with medical oversight and thorough preparation, we aim to make brain injury visible — and recovery achievable.

Research Context

Observational study in Special Operations Veterans

A landmark 2024 observational study published in Nature Medicine evaluated 30 male special-operations veterans with histories of traumatic brain injury receiving magnesium–ibogaine alongside complementary support.

The study reported significant reductions in post-concussive symptoms, PTSD scores, and cognitive disability following treatment. While an uncontrolled observational study does not establish a cure, it highlights the importance of continued clinical research.

Note: Casa-Well did not participate in that study, does not claim the same protocols, and is not endorsed by Stanford or the study authors. Information is shared for educational context only.

Our Approach

A structured path to exploration and care

Participation is subject to individual medical clearance, cardiac evaluation, and informed consent.

01

Comprehensive Medical Screening

We evaluate injury history, cardiac profile (12-lead EKG), liver panel, current symptoms, and all medications to determine individual suitability.

02

Thorough Preparation

Somatic, emotional, and practical preparation calls to orient your nervous system, clarify expectations, and establish safety parameters.

03

Monitored Retreat & Supported Experience

Carefully supervised retreat environment in Puerto Escondido with continuous medical and somatic oversight.

04

Integration & Long-Term Support

Structured post-retreat integration conversations to translate insights and neurological shifts into sustainable daily habits.

Is the Ibogaine Experience Right for You?

Every inquiry starts with individual screening. We review your health history, cardiac profile, and goals to evaluate whether participation is safe and appropriate.

Any additional iboga-related preparation or continuation is considered individually and requires separate written medical authorization. It is not available through open enrollment on this website.

Do not stop, taper, or change prescribed medication based on information on this website. Discuss any proposed changes with your prescribing clinician and the screening medical team.
