Iboga Spirit FAQ

 FAQs

  • Tabernanthe Iboga is a shrub native to Central Africa. Iboga has been used as a sacrament and considered to be sacred among the Bwiti communities.
Undergoing an Iboga session often takes people into a deep review of their life, enabling profound changes of behavior and attitude. In the West it is best known for its unique capacity to reduce the severity of substance use disorders and eliminate withdrawal symptoms. New research is now showing the profound healing implications for healing trauma, PTSD, depression, anxiety and traumatic brain injury and neurological disorders such as Parkinson’s. There is no other known substance that has these effects.

  • The legality of Iboga varies from country to country. In many countries, like Mexico and Costa Rica, Iboga is unscheduled. In others it has been legalized or decriminalized (including many cities in the U.S.). In some others it remains restricted. For more information about your particular situation, you can contact us directly, or review the Global Ibogaine Therapy Association’s (GITA) map of Iboga legalization.

  • Iboga has several benefits: it increases available energy and enthusiasm, lifts mood, and connects people to their life energy, affording clarity, concentration, and engagement with daily activities.
It can connect people to parts of themselves that are normally inaccessible, powerfully facilitating therapeutic processes and spiritual growth.

  • Yes, Iboga is not recommended for people with diagnoses of schizophrenia or psychosis. It is equally not recommended in cases of chronic cardiac illness. However, each case is different. Please contact us if you have questions about your particular situation.

  • Yes, like all microdosing substances, Iboga is meant to be taken in doses that allow for profound changes over time while staying at a sub perceptual level. We will help you find your sweet spot, the place where you can feel the plant spirit working deep inside, while remaining fully aware and comfortable with the experience.

  • It varies. Because Iboga has such a complex pharmacological makeup it can reach deep into people’s psyches and seems to create an almost personal relationship with each individual. Iboga responds to the deep processes that people are undergoing, and tends to give them what they most need to engage more deeply with life. In general terms, people often report subtle changes in their experience that lead to:

    • Relief from neurological and psychological suffering.

    • Connection to their unconscious, intuition. and dreams.

    • Increased energy and enthusiasm.

    • Expanded mental clarity and focus.

    • A feeling of a new reference point of awareness.

    • Improved inner strength to confront and resolve challenges.

  • Microdosing is a subtle experience, consequently, the differences between microdosing different psychedelic substances are also subtle. However, there are a few ways in which Iboga microdosing stands apart. These are some of the situations for which choosing Iboga is particularly advantageous.

    • Iboga stands out as a way to connect with reality and life that shines truth on our relationships, dreams and how we are living our lives, as a sort of “truth serum”. Presenting an opportunity to to resolve challenges and break patterns directly, once and for all.

    • In contrast to traditional pharmacology, Iboga not only can alleviate symptoms but delve into the profound realm of self-reflection, to address the very essence of the issues at their core—rendering continued use of some medications obsolete. Iboga microdosing can help people taper off of some psychiatric medications. This is best done in a 1:1 setting with therapeutic and medical guidance. We are currently conducting research on this topic. If you or anyone you know is experiencing difficulties tapering off psychiatric medication, and would be interested in participating in our research, please contact us HERE.

    • Iboga microdosing has been shown to alleviate neurological illnesses like Parkinson’s. For more information on Parkinson’s research and 1:1 consulting for particular cases please contact us HERE.

    • Iboga is made from a root. For many people, Iboga’s rootedness serves as a symbol of the central experience Iboga facilitates: compared to other psychedelics, Iboga seems to connect us into the roots of ourselves, our personal history, and ancestry. It can be particularly helpful navigating moments in life where you feel called to explore root causes of emotional and physicla suffering.

    • Iboga can be very helpful for dealing with situations of substance dependence, as it has the unique capacity to interrupt processes of addiction. After many years of experience we recommend working with a provider for a flood dose experience specifically tailored to substance abuse along with aftercare and therapeutic guidance for at least 9 months before engaging in a microdosing protocol.

    • Full dose or flood dose sessions of Iboga or Ibogaine are extraordinary experiences that open windows of opportunity for making profound changes. However those windows eventually close. Microdosing can be a powerful aid for integration after a larger dose.

It is true that all plants resonate in a unique way with individuals at different moments of their life. We recommend that you explore different entheogens, to find what works best for your current situation and needs.

“Iboga is a technology whose mechanics surpass anything we currently know. Will we ever know? Or, is iboga simply a technology patiently awaiting the infant human intellects coming of age?

In the meantime, suppose we simply accept that iboga is a profoundly powerful cognitive tool designed and delivered to heal, bond, cleanse, awaken, trigger psychological upgrades, and accelerate humankind’s evolutionary curve.”
